Learn about the Focused Assessment & Behavioral Supports (FABS) program.
The FABS program collaborates with caregivers to create personalized intervention plans to address a wide range of behavioral challenges. We ensure plans are effective and customize them for each family’s unique culture and each caregiver’s parenting style to ensure behavior plans are sustainable over time.
We work directly with caregivers of children and adolescents who engage in unsafe behaviors to ensure behavior plans are sustainable over the long-term. It allows us to individualize plans to honor the family’s values and culture.
Clients range from age 6 to 16. Many have a learning disability or developmental delay, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, or fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Some also have adverse childhood experiences or attachment injuries, including reactive attachment disorder.
We address the following behaviors:
- Aggression towards others
- Property destruction
- Melt-downs or tantrums
- Short temper or sudden outbursts
- Verbal aggression
- Running away from home (eloping)
- School refusal
- Difficulty being in public spaces
- Hair-pulling or skin-picking

What do services look like?
Services are highly customized to fit each person’s needs. Generally speaking, a mental health professional meets with caregivers 1-2 times per week, either online or in-home (in select areas), for a total of 2-4 hours per week. We complete an initial assessment, develop a behavior plan, and then support the caregivers in implementing the behavior plan. We take data along the way to ensure the behavior plan is effective and sustainable. Discharge is based on progress towards your goals, with services typically lasting about 8 weeks.
Where do the services take place?
We provide services online and in-home in select counties, depending on clinician availability. We are currently providing in-home services in Anoka, Hennepin, and Dakota counties, but you can email us at referrals@behavioraldimensions.com to check current service locations.
